Kinderhook Business and Professional Association

The Kinderhook Business and Professional Association, Inc. (KBPA) was established in 1993 to foster business in the Kinderhook Village. Every member business is either locally owned and / or employs local residents. The group works hard to promote business activity in the Village. Annual events sponsored by the KBPA are: Kindercrafter Fair, Farmers Market, Fourth of July People's Parade, Village-Wide Yard Sale, Legend of Sleepy Hollow reading and Candlelight Night.

These events bring people to the Village and promote a sense of community among the residents. In addition, the Kindercrafter Fair Quilt Raffle raises money each year for the Valatie Rescue Squad. The KBPA also donates proceeds from the fair to many local non-profit organizations. The KBPA addresses village quality of life issues such as parking, zoning, vandalism, special events and other business concerns. At least one member represents the business community each month at meetings of the village board.

As of 2005, more than forty Village businesses are members of the KBPA. They include retailers, restaurants, realtors, attorneys, banks, insurance companies, research firms, hair stylists, appraisers, art centers, farmers, communications companies and advertising agencies, as well as the local churches, the Kinderhook Memorial Library, and the Historical Society.
